Spelling Bee District Winner!!!




Congratulations to Lakeland Village School sixth grader Derek Vu for winning LEUSD’s Gordon Keifer Memorial Spelling Bee, held Wednesday night at the Lakeside High School Rotary Theater. Derek correctly spelled the word altarpiece after 23rd elimination rounds. First runner up is Justin Viveros, Grade 7, Elsinore Middle School, who alone matched Vu for 13 rounds. Participants included 34 finalists and first runners up, grades four through seven, from 18 schools. Derek will compete in the Riverside County bee in March.  Also pictured in the picture on the right is fellow student and spelling bee participant Cameron Merrell.

Awesome job, all Spelling Bee participants.  Derek Vu, you make us proud!  Go Bulldogs!

Save Those Labels!



Our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Haley, is collecting LABELS FOR EDUCATION this year in order to use the points to purchase musical instruments for our school like recorders and guitars!! You can find these labels on the following products: Campbell’s Soups, Prego Sauces, Franco American Gravies, SpaghettiOs, Swanson Broths, Wolfgang Puck Broths, V8 Drinks, Post Cereals, Pepperidge Farm Products & BIC Pens.
 
Turn in your labels just like you turn in your boxtops, to your teacher.  Teachers will put them in the same turn in envelope as the boxtops.
